Dr. Wairimu Muchiri is an experienced Clinical Psychologist, mental health advocate and early career researcher with a demonstrated history of handling a wide spectrum of mental health issues using a variety of treatment modalities. She runs her own clinical practice.
Dr. Muchiri values integrity excellence. Her practice focuses on providing quality mental health services to Kenyans from diverse backgrounds. She does this by delivering cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and other evidence-based treatments to emerging (18-29 years) and young adults.
Dr. Muchiri’s interest in emerging adults extends beyond her professional practice. During the course of her training and practice, she came to realise that existing research failed to account for emerging adulthood as a developmental stage with unique cultural features, present in developing countries such as Kenya. This led to her focus on that large gap of knowledge in research relating to emerging adulthood as a cross-cultural concept.
Dr Muchiri holds a Doctor of Psychology – Clinical Psychology (Psy.D), and a Master of Arts in Clinical Psychology both from the United States International University – Africa, as well as a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and a Diploma in Counseling from Daystar University.
